Guam- Emmanuel Thomas was formally sworn in today [Thursday] as the Postmaster of Guam.
A brief installation ceremony was held for Thomas at the John Gerber Post Office in Barrigada this morning. Thomas has been serving as the Guam Postmaster since March 24. He took over the duties of Fred Workman and now supervises more than 100 postal employees and the distribution of mail to 25 thousand PO Boxes and over 19 thousand addresses on 23 delivery routes.
It was also revealed he brought Guam up to the top tier level in the U.S. Postal Service. He says he wants the post office to be a good place for sending and receiving mail.
“Since we’ve been here, people have been very supportive” said Thomas. “It’s been very warm here and I appreciate that. So I’m here committed to make sure we keep our wait time and line down. You know, because I know when I first got here, customers were complaining about that.”
Thomas comes to the island after serving as a Post Office Customer Services Supervisor in Detroit, Michigan.
