The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about many restrictions and limitations, but despite the challenges, some have been discovering their true passions.
Power 98 on-air personality and real estate agent Shimmy Shack has picked up music as a new hobby thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
She attributes her jump into music to local inspirations like Frankie Free and Nick LG who actually helped produce her first single.
Shimmy says Frankie Free always encouraged her to do music because he saw a spark.
With the community ordered to stay-at-home, she had nothing else to do and finally took the offer.
“Of course, COVID is such a trying time for everyone. We all need an outlet because we consume so much information and it can be a little overwhelming that we may need a break. I found good in this time, and we have to stay home to remain safe. I think it’s a good time for people to discover who they are. You may not be good at it, but it can be something you’ve always been interested in,” Shimmy said.
Although Shimmy never wrote music before and claims she can’t sing, she was excited to be taken under the wings of veteran musicians.
Her music incorporates her roots in Houston, Texas, and the Guam island life she now calls home.
Bringing that spin to her music, Frankie Free and Nick LG were able to launch her debut “Day Or Night” produced and filmed completely locally!
You can watch Shimmy’s new music video on YouTube and it can be streamed on all music platforms.
Shimmy’s motto is “A life worth living is a life with no regrets…”
