Power rates will not change until January 31, 2019

Guam – Good news for island residents as an agreement between the Public Utilities Commission and the Guam Power Authority means that power rates will remain unchanged through January 31, 2019.

Chairman of the Consolidated Commission on Utilities, Simon Sanchez, announced that the levelized energy adjustment clause will not be increased come August 1st.

The LEAC is GPA’s fuel recovery surcharge, and can be found on your monthly power bill statement.

The CCU receives a petition from GPA, every 6 months. The petition is then approved or disapproved by the PUC.

GPA will reassess fuel rates to determine whether or not they will need to ask for another LEAC rate increase.
