Power Restored at DYA After Four Days of Lights Out

They were without power for a total of four days.

Guam – After four days of operating without power, lights are back on at the Department of Youth Affairs.

According to DYA Director Adonis Mendiola, DYA was without power since Friday evening because of a damaged circuit breaker that needed to be replaced. A total of five units were affected by the outage including the gymnasium and four dormitories. A source told PNC that about 30 clients suffered from limited lighting and lack of air-conditioning but Mendiola said the client’s needs, from water, to food, to hygiene, to security are taken care of. To restore power to the Mangilao facility, DYA awarded Kinden Corporation $6,700 to replace the main panel.
