During her daily online news conference, the governor commended a local community group for providing personal protective equipment to front line workers and those in need.
To combat shortages of personal protective equipment, PPE for Guam has been working to produce face masks and face shields to keep medical personnel and other front line workers safe.
And today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero recognized them for being a COVID Hero.
“On April 3rd, PPE for Guam donated 175 sewn face masks to the Guam Office of Civil Defense for distribution to the hospitals and first responders. On April 9th and 10th, they donated 550 face shields to GMH and GRMC. These face shields were made by local volunteers using 3D printers. Their goal is to create 500 additional face masks and 1,000 more face shields by April 17th,” the governor said.
The governor is encouraging residents to use the hashtag #COVIDHeroesGU on their social media posts to highlight individuals, groups, and businesses who are stepping up to assist the island’s COVID-19 response efforts.
