Proposed Tariff Increase Discussed At Public Hearings


Guam -Public Hearings are being held this week on proposed tariff increases for the Port Authority of Guam. Cornell Group, Incwas hired by the Port to determine the amount of tariff increases needed to support port operating expenses and to pay for bond issues regarding the modernization project.

Representatives from Cornell told the Port Board of Directors today that the Public Utilities Commission appears to be in support of their suggestions, even calling the proposed 3.96% increase conservative.

The PUC held a public hearing on the proposal at 5pm this evening, and will hold two more public hearings tomorrow at 5pm at the Asan Community Center and at 7pm at the Dededo Senior Citizen’s Center.
