Vernon Kamiaz was a science teacher at Simon Sanchez High School but was transferred to GDOE Headquarters at the start of the school year.

Guam – Despite attempts to negotiate a settlement deal with the Archdiocese of Agana, the sex abuse lawsuits against the church continue to pile up.

A 107th lawsuit was just filed in District Court and for the third time names former CCD teacher and Capuchin Brother Vernon Kamiaz.

Kamiaz is currently a public school teacher but was transferred to the GDOE headquarters from Simon Sanchez High School at the beginning of the school year.

The complaint was filed by 48-year-old R.I.C. who says Kamiaz sexually assaulted him on two occasions when he was just 14 years old.

The first time happened after choir practice at the Agana Heights Parish restroom. The second time, the complaint says, happened in Kamiaz’s car after church. Instead of taking R.I.C. home, Kamiaz drove the alleged victim to a water tank near the Cliff Hotel and sexually abused the minor.

R.I.C. is being represented by Attorney David Lujan and is seeking $5 million in damages.
