Purse Snatching in Tumon; Shaun M. Palacios & Shaylene D. Valentine Arrested

Guam – Guam Police have arrested a man and a woman in connection with yet another purse snatching in Tumon Thursday night.

22 year old Shaun Michael Palacios of Dededo has been booked and confined on 2 counts of robbery.  20 year old Shaylene Doris Valentine of Mangilao was arrested for theft by receiving. She was booked and released.

According to GPD Spokesman A.J. Balajadia, the purse snatching was reported about 9 last night. It happened across the street from the Guam Visitor’s Bureau in Tumon.

A witness gave police a description of the getaway vehicle, an “All Points Bulletin” was issued and, minutes later the vehicle was located on Route 16 in Harmon by the Shell station. Palacios and Valentine were inside and arrested.

Officer Balajadia says one witness was able to identify the vehicle as being the car the suspect fled in, another witness also identified one of the suspects as being the individual who robbed the tourist. And he says the victim was able to identify the wallet that was found in the vehicle as belonging to her.

Officer Balajadia credits the quick apprehension of the suspects to a combined effort between officers from the Tumon/Tamuning Precinct, the Criminal Justice Strike Force and Police Dispatch.

TUMON – 9:00pm, Thursday, May 22,2014, officers from the Tumon/Tamuning Precinct responded to a reported Purse Snatching across from the Guam Visitors Bureau, Tumon.  A witness to the robbery provided information to officers describing the possible suspects vehicle.

The information was broadcast by police dispatch, minutes later the vehicle was located on Rt. 16 by the Shell service station, the two occupants were detained. The witness identify the vehicle as being the car the suspect fled in. A second witness who was motoring on the road seconds after the 211 identified one of the suspects as being the individual who robbed the tourist.

The victim was able to identify the wallet that was found in the vehicle as belonging to her.
