Quilt Show Brings in $3,728 for Local Charity

The Material Girls presented Victims Advocates Reaching Out (VARO) with the proceeds from a quilt raffle show held Saturday

Guam – They call themselves the Material Girls, and not because they love to shop. They love to sew. The quilting group held their 11th quilt raffle at the Agana Shopping Center on Saturday.

Proceeds from the annual event are always given to a charity. Victims Advocates Reaching Out (VARO) was the beneficiary of this year’s event. The Material Girls raised $3,728 dollars in proceeds to present to VARO.

New this year was the presentation of the Quilts Of Valor.

“We’ve made six patriotic quilts.” Material Girls member Weare told PNC. “They will be be given to the National Guard to give to some families who have lost service men in our current wars.”
