Guam – Rainbows for All Children Guam, a program that helps children in need, is approaching its largest fundraising event of the year this weekend, a run walk for youth.
With their only source of income coming up this weekend, rainbows for all children Guam is asking for participation in the upcoming run/walk for youth 2016. Participants will be able to purchase a grand prize ticket with a chance to win a delta round trip ticket to Asia and an $800 Micronesia Mall Gift Certificate. Rainbows has been on Guam since 1987 and executive director of Rainbows Marie Virata Halloran says the program has helped over $18,000 children. Halloran says since rainbows lack local or federal funding, the non-profit program relies solely on the funds raised at the run walk for youth. Wettengele elementary principal Angie Iglesias explains that the program helps around 100 kids a year deal with all sorts of issues either at home or in the classroom.
“We want to make sure that we share this with all the other schools, show the administration that’s out there that it is a good program and its just a matter of commitment and i know that our teachers are already doing that but i think the concentration on the services and the program within rainbows for children is something that we need to sustain,” said Iglesias.
