Rays Clinch #1 Seed, Blue Jays Down Stars

LEO PALACE PARK-   Budweiser Amateur Baseball League action kicked off this past weekend with the AXE Stars facing off against the Ralphy’s Blue Jays on Saturday night at Leo Palace Park.  The Blue Jays would comeback from a 5-1 deficit and edge the Stars 6-5 for the win.  

Brian Santos would triple with one out in the top of the 7th inning and brother Donovan Santos would drive him in with a sac fly for the go ahead run.  Jay Cing would blank the Stars over the last three frames to preserve the win for the Ralphy’s Blue Jays.

Blue Jays catcher Jeremy McDonald was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and an rbi to pick up Strike Zone Player of the Game.  The Blue Jays finish the regular season at 8-11 and currently hold the 4th seed for the AA Division playoffs.

The Stars Ray Leon Guerrero was 3 for 3 with a run and walk in the loss.  The Stars fall to 8-9 on the season with two games remaining in the regular season.

 

Agat Cardinals   12   Chalan Pago Amigos   2

WP: Austin Sablan   LP: Brandon Panaguiton

Strike Zone POG: Austin Sablan 3IP, 3H, ER, 2K and reached base 4 times and scored 2 runs.

 

In Sunday day action the Agat Cardinals downed the Chalan Pago Amigos 12-2 in a 6 inning mercy rule win.  Austin Sablan came out of the bullpen allowing only one run in three innings and reached base four times and scored two runs to earn Strike Zone Player of the Game.

 

Vince Santos added two hits and two rbi for the Cardinals who finish the regular season at 12-8 and hold the 3rd seed in the AAA Division standings. Rayzor Quintanilla continues to swing a hot bat going 3 for 3 with an rbi for the Amigos who fall to 10-9 with one game remaining in the regular season.

 

Rays   9   Dongo Yigolos   1

Strike Zone POG: Lance Santos 6IP, 5H, ER, 3K, 3BB

 

In the Sunday night cap the Rays solidified themselves atop the AAA Division standings with a 9-1 win over the 2nd place Dongo Yigolos.  Ray’s starting pitcher Lance Santos limited the Yigolos to five hits over six innings to pick up the win and share Strike Zone Player of the Game with TJ Sarmiento who was 2 for 4 with a double and three rbi.

 

Shane Muna was 2 for 5 and flashed the leather at 2nd base as the Rays clinch the #1 seed for the AAA Division Playoffs.  AJ Benavente continues to be on a tear for the Yigolos going 2 for 3 with a run and two stolen bases as the Yigolos drop to 3rd place with a 11-8 record.
