Guam – Rear Adm. (lower half) Tilghman D. Payne will be assigned as commander, Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Pacific Command Representative, Guam.

The Command is currently held by Admiral Paul J. Bushong.

Flag Officer Announcements

          Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert announced today the following assignments:

          Rear Adm. Michael T. Franken will be assigned as director, Energy and Environmental Readiness Division, N45, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Franken is currently serving as commander, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, Djibouti, Africa.

          Rear Adm. (lower half) Tilghman D. Payne will be assigned as commander, Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Pacific Command Representative, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau/commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas, Guam.  Payne is currently serving as commander, Navy Region MIDWEST, Great Lakes, Ill.

          Rear Adm. (lower half) John W. Smith Jr. will be assigned as commander, Joint Task Force Guantanamo, U.S. Southern Command, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  Smith is currently serving as deputy commander, Joint Interagency Task Force, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, Fla.
