Reckless driving stop leads to drug bust

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, officers assigned to the Southern Precinct Command were conducting a traffic stop in Route 17, by Tarzan Falls in Santa Rita relative to a reckless driving investigation.

Through the course of the traffic stop, officers met with the passenger, a 36-year-old Michael Francis Duenas, during which a search of his bag was conducted.

Officers later discovered within the bag, crystalline substance within a Ziploc bag which later tested presumptive positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Michael Francis Duenas was later arrested for the following offenses:

= Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
= Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute and
= Warrant of Arrest

Michael Francis Duenas was subsequently booked and confined at the Department of Corrections.

This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
