Red Cross Hopes to Raise $300K at This Year’s Red Ball

The Red Cross Red Ball is happening this Saturday at the PIC Pavilion.

Guam – The American Red Cross is celebrating its 15th year of putting together the gala of the year, the annual Red Cross Red Ball. This year, it will be bigger and better than ever.

This year’s theme is “Red White and You.” Red Cross President Chita Blaise says the theme represents a message of community involvement in helping to support the non-profit organization. With a fundraising goal of $300,000, the largest in Red Ball history, Blaise says the community’s support and generosity is needed now more than ever.

“Everybody thinks of the Red Cross as a federally funded organization but actually it isn’t. We work side by side with public agencies but we are not a government agency. We rely entirely on the generosity of the community. So whatever money we raise comes from the community,” explains Blaise.

This year’s Red Ball Committee Chairperson is Triple J President Jeff Jones. He tells us what to look forward to this Saturday at the PIC Resort.

“There’s a lot of great things happening. We’re going to have great entertainment, great menu with steak and lobster. We’re gonna have a lot of great prizes where people can win a couple of cars they can choose from and it’s gonna be a really fun evening. People could dress up and there’s awards being given,” says Jones.

The sold out event is happening this Saturday starting at 6 pm at the Pacific Islands Club Pavilion.
