Residents treated to rare partial solar eclipse on Father’s Day

With their special sun shades or their hands over their eyes, residents around the island witnessed a rare partial solar eclipse on Father’s Day.

Sunday’s partial eclipse was known as a “ring of fire” because the moon covered most, but not all, of the sun.

The event started at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and hit its peak around at 6:30 p.m., according to the time and date website.
