Guam – For years motorists traveling through Hamburger Road, a well-known short cut to Harmon from Upper Tumon, had to deal with a bumpy ride as the road was riddled with potholes. But if you have driven through Hamburger road lately you will find that the ride is now smooth, thanks to the efforts of the Department of Public Works.

Governor Eddie Baza Calvo applauded the work done by the Department of Public Works, who have recently completed the re-pavement of Hamburger Road in Harmon for nearly half the cost.

“What has always been the calculation in the past for building roads or fixing roads in Guam is about a million dollars a mile. And here is this project a little over a mile and it cost 442-thousand dollars. And the reason why it is cut down to half or even less than half of what the cost usually is for many, many years its because DPW has done the work the preparatory work.” said Governor Calvo.

Governor Calvo says that DPW now has the capability, equipment and the man power to be able to fix and build roads. He requested that Senator Will Castro do his best to convince the majority to provide the necessary funding to make Guam’s roads safe.
