Riot & two fights break out at Benevente Middle School

According to Deputy Superintendent Erika Cruz, all three incidents were unrelated.


Guam – The Principal of Benevente Middle School called for a shelter in place after a riot and two separate fights broke out this morning.

According to Deputy Superintendent Erika Cruz, around 8 this morning, a riot broke out amongst the students.

Although the riot was quelled, not long after two separate fights broke out at the middle school.

A riot by the Guam Department of Education’s standards involves at least four or more students while a fight is an altercation between two individuals.

According to Cruz, all three incidents were unrelated. The principal of BMS called for an immediate shelter in place which prompted all students to head directly to their classrooms.

There is still an ongoing internal investigation into what caused the initial riot.

No major injuries were reported as of news time.
