Roadwork continues at Hagatna Route 1/8 intersection

Roadwork resumes today at the Route 1 and Route 8 intersection in Hagatna.

A DPW contractor will be installing traffic sensor loops along the southbound lanes of Route 1 at the intersection.

Traffic sensor loops are insulated, electrically conducting loops installed in the pavement in order to record the number of vehicles passing or arriving at an intersection or other points along a roadway.

The work will take place between 9 in the morning through 4 every afternoon through Thursday of this week.

There will be intermittent lane closures and lane shifts.

Next Sunday, March 8, the DPW contractor will then resume milling and paving the northbound lanes at the Route 1 & 8 intersection from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The work at the Route 1 & 8 intersection as postponed for a week following the massive traffic jam caused when the roadwork began back on Saturday February 22.

Access to Route 8 at the intersection will be closed.
