Sailors off the USS Roosevelt who have tested negative for COVID-19 are moving into hotels in Tamuning and Tumon today.
PNC News has learned that the first sailors from the Roosevelt will be quarantined at the Sheraton Laguna Resort and the Dusit Thani. Security personnel are stationed outside both of those hotels this morning.
The sailors are under orders to remain in quarantine there for the next two weeks. Other hotels will be called on to provide quarantine rooms in the days ahead.
Thursday, Joint Region Commander Rear Admiral John Menoni said, “the strike group commander, Adm. Stewart Baker, has issued a direct order to each one of these sailors that they’ll personally have in their hands, that there to personally stay in quarantine.”
Rear Admiral Menoni said he wanted to reassure the people of Guam and our local military community that he is taking the current situation “deadly seriously.”
“There is nobody that is going to violate an order on my watch and get away with it.” And he warned that “any sailor who violates that lawful order will be subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.”
