Guam – The Rovers FC Royal’s Cheri Stewart and Ian Lawton both scored hat tricks in their team’s 9-1 victory over Big Blue in an opening night match of the Bud Light Masters Co-Ed Soccer League at the Guam Football Association facility in Harmon Saturday.
It was a scoring fest from the beginning, as the Rovers FC Royal amassed a commanding 6-0 lead going into halftime.

The new Masters Co-Ed league’s rules require that at least three women from each team need to be on the pitch at all times. In the event that a team has less than three women, the team will have to play short, as was the case with Big Blue, which only had two female players available. Big Blue then ended up having only nine players on the pitch late in the second half when one of their female players, Yvonne San Nicolas, left the game following a collision with the Rovers FC Royal’s Tracy Brodie. Stewart voluntarily left the game after the incident.
In the earlier match of the evening, the Rovers FC Gold defeated the Paintco Strykers 2-1. James Oh and Luis Larrazabal scored for the Rovers FC Gold, while Ashley Gamache scored the Strykers’ lone goal.
Matches continue Saturday with Big Blue taking on the 4-Runners at 6 p.m. and both Rovers teams go head-to-head at 8 p.m.
