Limtiaco Still Leads Monsoon Races

Guam- Guam’s high flying motocross racers were once again banging bars this past Sunday out at the Guam International Raceway in Yigo during round four of the seven round RPM Yamaha and Cycles Plus Honda Monsoon Motocross Series. Under clear sunny skies the motorcycle and atv racers in their respective classes that ranged from kids mini’s to the larger full sized big kids machines took to the jump infested course for a great day of racing. Racing kicked off at shortly after 1:30pm.

The Kids Open Atv class competitors were the first to hit the track and saw yet another dominating performance set by #9 Ramon Torres aboard the Haul Pro supported Apex 90 mini quad. Torres easily out classed the rest of the field powering his machine up and over the many hills and jumps on route to another round sweep. Taking second but having to do it the hard way was #3 Bernabe Guerrero aboard his Pine Rental supported DRX 90. Bernabe had an epic side by side battle for second with #6 Stoney Bucek aboard a Simpson family owned DRX 70. The two atv moto youngster went back and forth each leading over the other on a certain part of the course and were no more than inches apart and at times even banging into one another. This went on lap after lap through out the race with Bernabe Guerrero finally able to pull away to take second from Stoney Bucek who finished third on the final lap. #8 Janessa Torres aboard a DRX 90 took fourth with team Dream Catchers Racing #99 Victoria Clark finishing fifth on her Apex 70 followed by team mate #83 Raven Girgan aboard a Polaris 90 in sixth.

In the 90cc Kids class the #9 Haul Pro supported Apex 90 of Ramon Torres took first with #3 Bernabe Guerrero on his Pine Rental supported DRX 90 in second. #8 Janessa Torres placed third on her DRX 90 with #83 Raven Girgan taking fourth on her team Dream Catchers supported Polaris 90.

In the 70cc Kids class #6 Stoney Bucek racing aboard the Simpson family owned DRX 70 took first over second place finisher #99 team Dream Catchers Victoria Clark on a Apex 70.

After the kids atv classes had finished the youngsters of the mini bike class had their chance at the track. #1 JR Cepeda on a Kawasaki Kx85 easily cleared the many double and table top jumps on his way to first place and was closely followed at times by #9 Suzuki Rm85 mounted Frank Marshal Vawters in second. The two front runners put on a great show by demonstrating that the smaller machines of the younger riders are more than able to fly as high and as far at times as the bigger full sized machines.

The full sized motocross motorcycles of the Open Motorcycle class were up on the track after the mini bikes had concluded and saw another dominating performance set forth by reigning 450cc champ Michael Limtiaco aboard his #11 Pacific Trucking supported Kawasaki Kxf 450. Michael set a fast pace for the rest of the field to try and follow in which they were unable to match there by easily giving Limtiaco another first place for the series. #25 Lawrence Limtiaco aboard his Fleet Services supported Kawasaki Kxf 450 had to work his way up from the back of the field to take second place away from #33 Jake Jones and #94 Bryan Barker. Jake Jones who had a solid handle on the second place position mid way into the heat aboard his Triple J supported Honda Crf250 had coasted to a stop having run short on fuel. After a quick splash of fuel Jones was back into the race but was unable to make up the positions lost and had was forced to settle for third place for the round. Bryan Barker was looking to have the position locked but just yards from the checkers the seasoned vet Lawrence Limtiaco made a hard charging move to pass Barker for the second place position. Yamaha mounted Barker took fourth for the round with #47 Tyanna Cruz rounding out the top five aboard her Kawasaki Kxf250.

In the 450cc class #11 Michael Limtiaco took first aboard the Pacific Trucking supported Kawasaki Kxf 450 with older broth Lawrence Limtiaco on the #25 Fleet Services supported Kawasaki Kxf 450 taking second. Third Place went to #94 Yamaha Yzf 450 mounted Bryan Barker.

250cc results saw #33 Jake Jones aboard the Triple J supported Honda Crf 250 taking first with #47 Kawasaki Kxf 250 rider Tyanna Cruz taking second.

The final race of the day saw the Open Atv class machines hit the track to do battle amidst scorching temperatures that had many seeking out the shade of a tree or canopy. At the start it was Pine Rental supported #5 Marcus Guerrero aboard his Honda Trx 450 grabbing the early lead with a pack of hungry four wheelers hot on his heels. Guerrero was able to hold the lead until drifting wide before a long set of doubles and table top jumps which had allowed #1 Robert Bucek aboard the Cycles Plus Suzuki Ltr450 and #20 Jerry Joaquin also aboard a Suzuki Ltr450 to slip by. Bucek and Joaquin quickly put distance on the rest of the field and took first and second respectively. With just a few laps left the appearing tiring Honda mounted Guerrero allowed yet another Suzuki Ltr450 to get by him – #16 Jeremiah Shelton saved energy by staying strong and smooth throughout the race to challenge and pass Guerrero for the third place position in the final laps of the event.

Round five of the RPM Yamaha and Cycles Plus Honda Monsoon Motocross Series will take place on Sunday November 7th at the Guam International Raceway in Yigo with racing set to begin at 1pm that day. The event will be free for those who would like to come out and watch.
