Authorities have identified the two women who were found dead inside a Korean restaurant in Saipan early Friday morning.
The medic dispatched to the crime scene found the two individuals “in separate pools of blood,” 15 feet from the entrance of Rice Cake Best Food, a restaurant located in the San Antonio area.
The victims were transported to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation where the attending doctor pronounced the first victim, 43-year-old Ria Na Lim, dead at about 9:47 a.m.
The second victim, 53-year-old, Lim Hua Choi, was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m.
Both victims were shot, according to the preliminary investigation.
DPS is working with the Attorney General’s office so that an autopsy could be performed on the bodies. More details will follow once the procedure has been completed.
According to information released to the media, individuals close to the victims told police that the women always carried shoulder bags with them. Authorities were unable to locate the shoulder bags at the scene.
Some residents in the area also told the Marianas Variety that one of the victims delivered rice cakes to some stores on Saipan.
Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the neighboring establishments and buildings and will share more details with the public if it will aid with the investigation into the case.
