Hafa Adai Members,
As mentioned in previous Chamber correspondence to the membership, you will be hearing often from us as we continue to bring you the most updated information as possible to support your businesses and your employees.
We have spoken with Congressman San Nicolas today and he has assured us that he is doing everything he can to ensure that the Territories are included in every economic stimulus bill that comes before Congress. He has today also requested that local businesses keep their payrolls for at least three (3) more weeks. Just as we have been told about flattening the curve to reduce the Coronavirus infection, Congressman suggests that this should also be observed for the economic impact the pandemic has caused for the economy. If businesses can hold on for a few more weeks by keeping employees employed and by helping other businesses, this would give Congress time to pass federal relief packages that should pull everyone through this crises. You can read the Congressman’s release in its entirety below.
If your business has put forth special offers for other businesses to support sustainability efforts during this crisis please let us know – we are happy to compile the information to send to the business community.
We have sent information to the membership about the availability of US SBA’s opportunity for low interest federal disaster loans for small businesses impacted by COVID-19. We have included the information again below for your convenience. Additionally, over the weekend, the IRS has extended the filing and payment deadline from April 15 to July 15, 2020. This and more information have been included in this message for your ease of reference.
We’ll also be sending a separate notice regarding updated flyers and take out information from our members to keep you updated. Be sure to check your Guam Chamber’s social media outlets for updates as well.
Let’s continue to do our part by staying home, practicing social distancing and being extremely careful in managing our hygiene. Thank you for all you and your company are doing to address the impacts of COVID-19 in our community.
Onward Together,
Catherine Castro
President
Guam Chamber of Commerce
