Guam delegate Michael San Nicolas has cosponsored a legislation introduced by Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard. The legislation provides health and medical care to veterans from the Freely Associated States.
The proposed legislation would require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a pilot program to provide hospital care and medical services to veterans in the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia.
The legislation also has a provision that would require a study on the feasibility of establishing regional offices or other subordinate offices of the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Freely Associated States to provide care and services for veterans. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs following its introduction.
