Guam – (August 30, 2013 – Tamuning) The Department of Public Works has issued an alert that between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, north bound traffic will be reduced to one lane on Route 1 west of the Route 4 intersection in Hagåtña.
The lane closure is necessary for the safety of construction personnel and motorists as the contractor facilitates the installation of a DOD ductbank on a manhole within the roadway. One north bound lane will remain open at all times to maintain access.
Between 10 p.m. on Monday, September 2 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, north bound traffic will be shut down on Marine Corps Drive between Route 4 and Route 8 in Hagåtña.
The lane closures are necessary as the contractor continues to facilitate the demolition and removal of the existing bridge as part of the Agana Bridges Reconstruction Project. Signs and personnel will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists are asked to use Route 7A (East & West O’Brien Drive) as a detour route during this time. The Guam Police Department, Guam Fire Department and local businesses in the area have been notified.
Construction signs and personnel will be in place to direct traffic. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to obey all traffic signs.
The DPW thanks the public for their patience as we continue to fix Guam’s roads.
