Scaggs Pleads Not Guilty in 1987 Murder of His Wife

Guam –  A man accused of murdering his wife 27 years ago pleaded not guilty in Superior Court today.

48-year-old Gary Scaggs was picked up by federal authorities in Indiana in April after he was indicted and subsequently summoned to appear in Guam court.

The indictment charges Scaggs with one count murder as a first degree felony for the death of his wife, Tracey Scaggs on June 23 1987.

She was found strangled to death at the Villa Verde apartments in Dededo, but there wasn’t enough evidence to arrest anyone at the time so the case went cold.

However, Guam Attorney General Lenny Rapadas said new information and evidence had been uncovered leading to Scaggs’ arrest.

Scaggs was serving in the US Air Force at the time of his wife’s murder. He is being held on a $1 million dollar cash only bond.
