Section 30 resolution fails but Senators pass bereavement leave and other bills

Guam – Senators passed a number of bills this afternoon including a bill that amends the Guam family and medical leave act.

Bill 117 which would allow employees unpaid bereavement leave was passed with a vote of 13-1 and one excused absence. Bill 118 which clarifies the employee threshold for the Guam Family and Medical Leave Act was also passed with a vote of 13-1. Lawmakers voted against Senator Mike San Nicolas’ Resolution 76 which asks the Congresswoman to seek a section 30 payment schedule that is disbursed over the course of the year rather than payed in one lump sum. Only Senator San Nicolas voted yes on the resolution.
