Sedimentation Runoff Off Adelup Coast Concerns Environmentalists

Guam- The recent heavy rains have caused a large amount of sedimentation runoff to spread through various coasts on Guam.

Environmental officials alerted PNC to the coast off Adelup where heavy sediment plumes saturated the area for about a mile Friday morning. Department of Agriculture Biologist Brent Tibbatts was one of the officials investigating the source of the runoff. He mentions several badland patches could be feeding the Fonte river with sediments, but notes it is hard to say at this point.

He and others emphasize this is a great example why reforestation and re-vegetation is important, as well as soil conservation practices.
