Guam – This Friday, August 20 Senator Tom Ada will conduct a roundtable discussion, in order to provide the Department of Public Works (DPW) with the opportunity to address the major concerns regarding school bus services.
Through the roundtable discussion, Senator Tom Ada, Chairperson on the Committee of Public Works anticipates DPW to address the delay in student pickup/drop-off times, lack of school buses/drivers, and the failure to obtain safety clearances required by Guam law, as indicated by a recent announcement from the Office of the Attorney General.
Recent events highlighted by the media, and numerous phone calls from concerned parents have prompted the need for a briefing to identify corrective actions being taken by DPW, and recommendations to prevent further deterioration of this problem.
Senator Ada states, “It is crucial that we provide a safe method of transportation for students traveling to school, and ensure both parents and Department of Education administrators that students will be picked up and dropped off as indicated in the “Department of Public Works Bus Schedule School Year 2010-2011”.
The Roundtable Discussion will occur at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Guam Legislature Public Hearing Room. Residents are welcome to attend in order to provide comments or recommendations pertaining to the operation of school bus services. The discussion will be televised on Channel 13 (MCV) and Channel 21 (GTA).
