Senator Aguon Urges Police Chief to Ask For Release of Reserve Funds to Cover $5.5 Million Shortfall

The Calvo administration has made it a policy to hold a 15 percent reserve from every agency every fiscal year.

GPD is operating with a $5.5 million dollar shortfall leading Senator Frank Aguon Jr. to write a letter to GPD Chief J.I. Cruz asking him to immediately request BBMR to release the 15 percent reserve they have withheld from them.

 

The Calvo administration has made it a policy to hold a 15 percent reserve from every agency every fiscal year. During last weeks budget hearing GPD stated they are experiencing a $5.5 million dollar shortfall for this current fiscal year. Meanwhile BBMR’s appropriation reserve report for the second quarter shows a $5.2 million dollar reserve that has been withheld from GPD. Senator Aguon is “strongly” recommending that the chief of police immediately request BBMR to release these $5.2 million dollars in funding from the appropriation reserves.
