Senator Barnes Introduces Bill to Improve Safety in Tumon

According to the measure there is currently $2.3 million dollars available in the FY2015 hotel occupancy tax surplus fund.

Guam – Senator Tina Muna Barnes has introduced a bill to appropriate $910 thousand dollars of hotel occupancy tax surplus funds to pay for safety improvements to the Tumon bay area.

 Specifically the bill would fund the replacement of the dilapidated handrails and crosswalk signs. It would also fund the repair of the streetlight electrical system, and the installation of led streetlights along San Vitores road. It would also fund improvements to the Marine Corps Drive and JFK Hill intersection.

 “This bill is really important because whether we are coming off a plane or taking our family out for dinner or just driving around Guam we want everyone to feel that they have the right to feel safe,” said Senator Barnes.
