BLAS COMMENTS ON HOUSE PASSAGE OF BILL THAT INCLUDES GUAM MILCOM FUNDING

With the passage of H.R. 58-54 that includes funding for military construction projects on Guam for Fiscal Year 2013, Senator Frank F. Blas, Jr. expressed gratitude to the Republican-controlled House for recognizing the importance of the projects.

“The $102 Million authorized will go towards at least three projects that are vital to Defense Department operations on Guam and in the Asia-Pacific region,” Senator Blas said.

“While there continues to be a discussion on the size and scope of the realignment of military forces in our area, more specifically with regard to U.S. Marine forces in Okinawa, the construction projects being funded in this bill will enhance and improve the force structure that is already here. I thank the House for recognizing this and hope that the Senate and the President will follow in their wisdom.”
