Senator Frank Aguon Jr. Thanks Everyone Who Submitted Comments on The Buildup SEIS

2 July 2014

(Wednesday, July 2, 2014, Hagåtña, Guam) On June 5, 2014 the Department of the Navy extended the public comment period for the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) by 15 days to 2 July, 2014 (ChST). Senator Frank B. Aguon, Jr., releases the following statement on the conclusion for the submission of comments for the DSEIS:

“While we all have different perspectives on the buildup, I want to recognize the individuals in our community who submitted their comments online, who attended and actively participated at every public meeting and discussions on the DSEIS.  It is because of this commitment the Department of Defense is able to move forward with the completion of the environmental review process and issue a Record of Decision, said Senator Frank B. Aguon, Jr. “Furthermore, I am encouraged by the willingness of the Department of Defense’s commitment to listen and address most of the concerns of our people during the open comment period and I am confident this commitment will continue to carry over through the Programmatic  Agreement.”

Senator Aguon concludes, “The people of Guam need opportunities and I am certain that the Administration, Congresswoman Bordallo, and my colleagues in the Legislature, will work together to ensure that both the people of Guam and the Department of Defense equally benefit from the buildup.”
