Guam – Senator Judi Guthertz met this week with the Chair of the Calvo-Tenorio transition team’s Buildup Committee, Major General (Ret.) Benny Paulino.
Senator Guthertz is the Chair of the 30th Legislature’s Buildup Committee and will continue in that role when the 31st Legislature is sworn in next month.
In an exchange of letters, the Senator suggested that the Calvo-Tenorio team consider delaying action on appointing Deputy Directors in the various line agencies of the Government of Guam.
According to the Senator’s release, Gov.-Elect Calvo responded, “Your suggestion is novel, innovative and worth further examination. I am pleased to inform you our transition committee is looking at the structural and organizational aspects of the entire government, searching for ways to improve efficiency and accountability.” Gov.-Elect Calvo added, “This idea very well may be useful as they prepare their recommendations and reports.”
In response Senator Gutherz states: “I am pleased with the willingness of direction of Gov. –Elect Calvo in the initial stages of his assembling the workings of the incoming administration. It is my hope that this spirit of open and receptive dialogue and cooperation continues through their term.”
