Senator Says There’s Still Work to Be Done

Guam – Senator Brant McCreadie toured the Department of Corrections for the third time today(Tues) and was impressed with the improvements of their infirmary.

Senator McCreadie says the infirmary has been renovated and these improvements bring DOC one step closer to getting out of the consent decree with the federal government. He applauds the attorney general’s Office and DOC for finding a solution to a problem that has been plaguing Guam for over 25 years. “I think it’s imperative that we as lawmakers continue to support the Department of Corrections but we still have to ask the tough questions and we hope for educated answers but this doesn’t mean we can’t shine some light on some of the good things they’ve been doing and this is one of them,” said McCreadie.

Nevertheless the Senator says DOC still has a number of issues that it needs to address including it’s procedures to keep inmates from escaping.
