Guam – Senator Tina Muna-Barnes is concerned about the safety of children around the former Inarajan Elementary School.
The Senator is concerned about broken-glass and the dilapidated condition of the building. Although the old-school is listed on the register of National Historic Places, Muna-Barnes points out it is run-down and un-safe.
Because it is right next to a basketball court where children congregate, she has written a letter to Acting DPW Director joanne brown asking that a barrier be put up around the building to prevent injury to the young people who play near-by.
Senator Muna-Barnes says she is actively working with the Inarajan Mayor’s Office and the Office of Historic Preservation to re-habilitate the historic site through a Preservation Trust Grant.
