After all, underwood says, GDOE has been successfully operating during the course of the investigation into Fernandez’s sexual misconduct allegations.
Guam – Meanwhile, Senator Nerissa Underwood, the committee chair of education says although she believes the former superintendent is a talented leader she respects the education board’s decision to terminate his contract.
Underwood says that despite the vacant superintendent position, she is confident that the vacancy will not cause instability within GDOE as suggested by Governor Eddie Calvo last night. After all, underwood says, GDOE has been successfully operating during the course of the investigation into Fernandez’s sexual misconduct allegations. Underwood says she’s glad the board decided to investigate whether title ix violations occurred and she points out that she had asked for written records of the investigation, even filing a public records request in early July.
“He’s a very talented leader but to the extent that there had been an issue that had to be addressed related to title 9 then that had to be addressed by the board and the federal policies we have to comply with, ” said Underwood.
