Senator Pangelinan Questions Accuracy of Governor’s Figures in Radio Address

Guam – Senator Ben Pangelinan  is calling on Governor Eddie Calvo to collaborate with his cabinet on the accuracy of financial information that the administration releases to the public.

In a release, Pangelinan states that during an informational hearing with the Department of Rev & Tax last week and at his confirmation hearing “Acting DRT Director John Camacho testified under oath that the total individual & individual & corporate processed & estimated tax owed to taxpayers is $209,072,986.96.”

In his weekly radio address address today [Monday], Governor Calvo stated that tax refunds owed were in the amount of $287 million.

Pangelinan is quoted in the release as saying that he hopes “the governor is not so irresponsible as to continually alarm the people of Guam with inflated financial figures in order to justify his artificial cash crisis. I believe the difference of $78.9 Million between Governor Calvo’s amount and his appointed Acting Director is too large of a discrepancy to ignore and must be reconciled.”
