Senator Underwood Concerned About Dilapidated GW Campus

She wants an update on the RFP that’s supposed to be used to fix up the DOE schools.

Guam – After 14 classrooms were vandalized at the George Washington High School, Senator Nerissa Underwood sent a letter to Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez asking for a status update on the $100-million dollar Request for Proposal to renovate and maintain the facilities of the public schools.

Underwood states in a release that the attention needed to GW High School is long overdue. She says now more than ever, and given the pre-existing issues of deterioration and dilapidation at the school, she believes the renovation at GW needs to be prioritized. Underwood asks that DOE work closely with her Committee on Public Education to ensure that the needs of GWHS are addressed immediately.
Just last week, Department of Public Works Deputy Director Arleen Pierce says the RFP committee remains in the negotiation stage with the top offerer the Guam Educational Facilities Fund.
