With the season of giving in full swing, Senators Clynt Ridgell and Kelly Marsh Taitano have chosen to contribute to the community by donating recreational equipment to the Micronesia Resource Center.

The Micronesia Resource Center is a part of the Mane’lu Foundation and works to provide educational resources to Micronesians to transition to life on Guam.

As part of its services, the resource center has an after-school program that serves children of all ages so that they can play and interact together.

The senators donated items such as kickballs, hula hoops, and jump ropes which were supplied by Hornet Sporting Goods.

Edimund Wengu, project director, said: “We have so many participants who go to these sites and we go through equipment like this really fast. So to get something like this really helps our program.”

In the spirit of the holiday season, the senators said they wanted to return the favor to a program that has been helping upwards of 300,000 people a year with their services.

“It’s so much better to give than to receive. It’s just such a pleasure to find something worthy to give to. It’s really heartwarming,” the senators said.

The senators also expressed their interest in visiting the resource center’s after-school program sites and interacting with the children there.
