Guam – Pete Sgro, the most prominent backer of the new private hospital, continued his campaign Wednesday to win support for a Qualifying Certificate [QC] for the new Guam Regional Medical City [GRMC] now under construction in Dededo.
Agro is the Chairman of the Guam Healthcare & Hospital Development Foundation.
At the Rotary Club of Northern Guam Wednesday he responded to recent criticism from some members of the Guam Medical Association [GMA].
The GMA recently released a survey of members showing 96% opposed any tax breaks for GRMC, while some said they would support a QC only if it included restrictions requiring the private hospital to provide care to uninsured patients.
Sgro also mentioned that many current members of the Guam Medical Association who have opposed the QC, have already submitted applications to work at the new hospital.
