With some wearing masks along with their silver cap and gowns, Simon Sanchez High School’s Class of 2020 still made their graduation special even though they couldn’t have a traditional ceremony.
This morning, 309 graduating seniors from Simon Sanchez individually walked across the stage at their school campus to receive their diploma as family members cheered from a distance in cars decorated with balloons and streamers.
Yssabelle Paguio Valencia, Simon Sanchez’s valedictorian, described the members of the Class of 2020 as persistent and had this to say to her fellow graduates: “I just want you to pause and congratulate yourself on this achievement. After pulling all-nighters to finish that project or essay, bothering our teachers for extra credit, and recovering from a bad case of senioritis — we did it! I had an amazing high school experience and all of you had a part of it even though we weren’t close or didn’t know each other at all.”
From all of us at PNC, congratulations to the Class of 2020! We wish you well and all the best.
