Guam – Two students of Simon Sanchez high school are now being hailed as heroes on social media following the reported rescue of two toddlers left unattended in a sweltering parked car.

Shannon Siguenza, an English teacher teacher at Simon Sanchez High school tells PNC that the students were participating in a community event last Friday when the student duo spotted the toddlers in a car of the Micronesian Mall parking lot.

Upon further inspection, Siguenza said one of the toddlers was crying, visibly affected by the heat while the other was reportedly unresponsive, but still breathing. It was at that point when Siguenza decided to call 911 at the behest of her two students.

In a social media post, Siguenza estimates that the toddlers had been in the car for nearly an hour before they arrived, adding that none of the windows in the vehicle were rolled down for the trapped toddlers.

Thankfully, Siguenza says no one was injured, due in part to the quick actions of the students.
