Guam – The village of Sinajana has a new sports and recreational facility.

Today the ribbon was cut and the first open air gymnasium on Guam was officially unveiled. The Gym sits where the old Sinajana outdoor basketball court once stood. It cost $670 thousand dollars to build. $624 thousand came from a GHURA community block grant. The remaining $46 thousand came out of a combination of funds from the Sinajana mayor’s office operations budget, the limited gaming fund and funding given by GVB to the mayor’s office for the upcoming FESTIVAL of the Pacific Arts. Sinajana Mayor Robert Hoffman says this gym and other future upgrades not only add to the recreational opportunities in the village but also increase the overall value of the surrounding properties.

“Finally I want to thank the good people of Sinajana who make this place special and welcoming but most especially who make it home. This is dedicated to you,” said the Sinajana Mayor.

Mayor Hoffman says that they will soon begin renovating their baseball field and will also eventually build a new playground.
