Sinajana Woman Dies in Alleged Domestic Violence Case

Guam –  A Sinajana woman is dead after police say she got into an argument at her boyfriend’s home in Agat on Sunday.

Her boyfriend, 40-year old Roland San Nicolas Smith now faces charges of Aggravated Murder in her death.

43-year old Amanada Tedtaotao was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital on Sunday afternoon and died from her injuries late last night.  An autopsy was conducted this afternoon but the results have not yet been released.

Guam Police Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia says the Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the case.

“The initial information that I received is that she did have an injury to the back of her head and that a blunt force object was used in delivering the injury.”  Balajadia said but he could not say what kind of weapon was used.

Smith was treated at GMH for a laceration to his neck.  According to Balajadia the laceration was self inflicted.

After being released from the hospital Smith was arrested for Aggravated Murder, Aggravated Assault, Family Violence and the Possession of a Deadly Weapon in the Commission of a Felony.  He was booked and confined.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Balajadia said he hopes victims of abuse will get the help they need.

“We want the public to know that there is help out there and we are willing to help but you have to come to us and you have to report these things because we don’t know what is going on in your own home.”  Balajadia said.   “We do not want somebody dieing at the hands of their abuser.”
