Social media has been abuzz with posts that the University of Guam may be “rushing” a decision today on increasing tuition fees.

“The University of Guam is rushing a vote on the tuition and fee increases in a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. in SBPA 129. This will be followed by a 3 p.m. meeting in the RFK library AV room 1 for the final approval of the tuition increase. Please come down and bring signs and help us prevent 30 percent tuition increase. Please forward and spread the word and please come down tomorrow,” one post stated.

A post yesterday stated that the tuition committee is the one that will discuss and approve the resolution for a tuition fee increase and then the UOG Board of Regents will convene at 3 p.m. to approve it.

“This meeting was supposed to happen in November why they pushed it to tomorrow?” another post stated.

The UOG increase, if approved, would mean an additional 10 percent for each semester.
