Some IT&E Services Down Due to Damaged Fiber Cable

If your phone provider is IT&E, expect an interruption of services.

IT&E’s main fiber cable between Guam and the CNMI was damaged early this morning.

According to a release from the company, a response team has been dispatched to Tinian. In addition, both Guam and Saipan are working to restore services.

IT&E crews have not identified the exact cause of the failure yet, but the release states it might have been due to the recent passing of Typhoon Chanhom.

As of 6 this morning, while on island communications in the CNMI are possible, all off island communication is not possible. IT&E 2G customers do not have service, postpaid customers on the 4G LTE have their voice and data services, however, texting and prepaid services are not available.
