Guam – It will be a night of fine dining, musical entertainment and a celebration of women. Soroptimist International of Guam will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their charter, as they bring back Silibrasion Famalao’an, a benefit for local charities.
Bringing it back to the 70’s, the theme for the evening is a tribute to the 1978 charter of the organization.
It takes a collective effort to work towards improving the lives of women in the community and it is through social and economic empowerment programs that SI/Guam is able to assist.
One such program is the Live Your Dream Education Award Program that supports aspiring women who wish to achieve their educational and career goals, by financially supporting them. To do this, however, the organization relies on the generosity of those in the community.
The benefit tonight will feature musical performances by 20 local women artists and attendees will be treated to a four course dinner inspired by the 70’s theme.
“I think what is also really special is that there is so much power that comes through with music and I think it’s an opportunity, not only for our members to kind of pay homage to where we came from 40 years ago in what we have accomplished, but it’s also very encouraging and empowering for what is to come in the future and I think having a live concert with all women is very powerful, it sends a powerful message, and I just got goose bumps talking about that, but I think it is going to be awesome,” said Jina Rojas, President of SI/G
It’s not too late to attend this event. It’s scheduled to begin at six this evening at Dusit Thani Resort Guam. Tickets are $150 dollars and can be purchased at the door.
