Strike Force Nabs 4 Accused of Robbing Tourists in Tumon

Guam – GPD’s Criminal Justice Strike Force has arrested 4 men who are accused of robbing tourists in Tumon.

According to a release from GPD Spokesman Officer A.J. Balajadia, the 4 accused were part of a group of men who preyed on female tourists, robbing them by force and, at times, using a knife.

Balajadia says officers from the Tumon/Tamuning Precinct were instrumental in solving the robbery cases in Tumon.  he says they started working on them first and identified one of the suspects in a surveillance video, “which lead the Strike Force to solve these cases”.

He identified the 4 as:

CRIMINAL JUSTICE STRIKE FORCE, STRIKES AGAIN

For the past few weeks the Guam Police Department has beefed up the presence of officers in the Tumon area in hopes of detouring crimes and apprehending those who commit them.

Two weeks ago, officers with the Criminal Justice Strike Force apprehended two men after robbing a tourist at knife point in from of the Fiesta Hotel. Monday, authorities were able to identify a man caught on surveillance camera after the man completed a crime. After over 48 hours straight work officers from the Criminal Justice Strike Force were able to locate the man and three other individuals who were taken into custody for questioning regarding numerous crimes committed to tourist and arrest them.

An investigation revealed that the group of men preyed on female tourist as they were robbed by force and at times knife point. All were suspected to have a role in the crimes.

4.  Aaron Michael Santos, Male/Chamorro/20/Dededo, for Robbery (2 counts), Theft of Property (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Robbery (2 counts), and Guilt Established by Complicity (2 counts)

All four were booked and confined.  Additional charges maybe pending as the Strike Force and the Tumon/Tamuning Precinct continue their investigation into other crimes against tourist..

March 3, 2014, While on the beach near the Blue Aster wedding chapel in Tumon two female tourist were approached by two males one who was holding a knife. While at knife point the suspects demanded the belongings of the tourist. The suspects fled to Fajita road.

March 15,2014, Two female tourist were walking near the Tumon Sports Club when they were approached by a male individual who grabbed at the purse of one of the tourist. A struggle ensued and as a result the victim sustained minor injuries. A witness identified another suspect who stood watch over the struggle. The suspects fled the area.

March 24, 2014 while by the Reef Hotel a female tourist was robbed at knife point.
