Super Typhoon Yutu: Guam in COR 1


Guam – Governor Eddie Baza Calvo has declared Guam in Condition of Readiness 1 in anticipation of Super Typhoon Yutu.

COR 1 means damaging winds are expected within 12 hours. Although Super Typhoon Yutu is not expected to pass over Guam, winds of 39 to 57 miles an hour or greater will impact the island.

On its current track, Yutu will likely pass just south of Tinian with 160 mph winds.

Joint Region Marianas Rear Admiral Shoshana Chatfield will also be placing the island’s military installations in COR 1 at 5 p.m.

Guam in COR 1; Remain Indoors

Governor Eddie Calvo has placed Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 effective 5 p.m. today, and Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, commander, Joint Region Marianas placed the island’s military installations in COR 1 at the same time.

GovGuam employees are asked to report to their departments once we go into COR4.

Guam Department of Education also will not have classes tomorrow. Once COR4 is declared, GDOE will announce when 12-month employees should report to their schools or offices. Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for Thursday are also cancelled.

The community is advised to stay off the roadways and remain indoors until COR 4 is announced.
